Deep Dive
According to data released last year by Numerator, about half of consumers trust convenience store private-label products. With shoppers facing increasing financial pressure, having a private brand offers Tri Star another way to provide value across all its locations.
The company aimed for manybold flavors。
"We picked flavors people are talking about in our towns, from dill pickle to Nashville hot, and combined them into a lineup that fits any stop," said Dawn Boulanger, vice president of marketing at Tri Star Energy.
The lineup includes jalapeño cheddar, black pepper bacon, dill pickle, and hot chips; steakhouse, roasted garlic, and Nashville hot jerky; and milk churro crunch, sea salt caramel, and raspberry crunch candy bars.
The company plans to adjust these products over time based on sales and customer feedback, according to the announcement.
The new private-label line will bolster the food focus across Tri Star's various storefronts. Its three convenience store brands already offer a variety of ready-to-eat and made-to-order foods, while White Bison Coffee—often located inside Twice Daily stores—offers sandwiches and pastries.
Tri Star joins some of the top convenience store chains in growing private-label businesses. 7-Eleven has been building out its private-brand offerings for years and plans to add 175 new items in fiscal 2025. Casey's General Stores last yearcreated a new positionin its store-brand division to overhaul its extensive private-label product line.
